I want to thank everyone who sent
me encouraging words both publicly and privately after my first post. They mean
a lot to me and I hope I can live up to it. Now on to meat of the post.
The
program I am starting stresses protein and calorie reduction. They say that if
you stay within your calorie limits and get all your protein you will eat
better without really trying. Protein also allegedly makes you feel fuller so
you don’t feel as hungry. I admit the protein shake I had did make me feel full
but I’m not sure if it was the protein or the 20oz of liquid or all the water I’m
drinking. Oh I didn’t mention the water? They say you should drink half your weight
in ounces of water but I think 175 ounces of water a day may be too much. I
only drink water and iced tea as it is and I’ve tried to increase my water
intake but it’s hard for me to track. I have a big glass at home and at work
and I’m constantly refilling it before it empties because I can’t stand warm
water.
So my
numbers to shoot for are less than 2300 calories and 175 grams of protein. I
think the calorie count is high but I’ll stay under it. As I look at calories
and track my eating I had to have been putting almost twice that into my mouth
fairly regularly. Determining calories and protein is difficult for food I cook
but almost every restaurant has online nutrition information, not that I can
afford restaurants, and there are plenty of informational sites to look up
nutritional information. So far I have
been close, at least according to my calculations, to my counts but the real
test will be weigh in time to see if it’s starting to work.
I am
also starting to exercise again. For a while I had a membership at a gym and
worked out regularly but that stopped when I got sick the first time that
stopped. I took Layla for a walk tonight and I am going to start hitting the
gym again even if it’s just the gym at work.
Once
again, thank you for the kind words and I will try to answer any and all questions.
Til next time.
