Where does the time go?

Sorry about last week folks. I did not go to my weigh in as I had Toledo School for the Arts in my space with their production of “Hairspray.”  What a talented bunch of students and future professionals.  I designed lights for the show plus my usual duties so I was a busy boy and didn’t have much of a chance to do anything, including eat well.  A big thank you to my good friend and stage manager of the three ring circus that is a TSA musical, Jamie Naragon, who made sure I at least had dinner every night. I also broke down and had fast food a couple of times, but I did try to lessen the damage by nixing the buns and no french fries. Late nights are going to be a problem for me as my willpower is the weakest at night.

Given my busy schedule I was a little more apprehensive than usual at the weigh in tonight, figuring that my cheating had done me in and taken me back up. I stepped on the scale, and lo and behold, I had dropped 4 pounds since my last weigh in. Woohoo!! I was ecstatic. I know that I was very fortunate and that I cannot keep making those bad choices, but I kept the downward movement going and that is a minor skirmish victory in the battle.

I have been maintaining my workout schedule, minus one morning, for the last couple of weeks. Today we upped my miles per day to two and I felt fine. I also used a kettle ball for the first time. My workout buddy is very good at mixing things up so I don’t get bored and always brings something new, besides the fact that I don’t want to disappoint her by standing her up at 7:15 am.

That’s the latest from the front this week. Thank you for your continued support. Oh and I have posted the starting pictures of me here and when I finish this 3 month challenge I will post the ending pictures.  Hopefully we’ll see a difference.

Rough Times

This replacement shake stuff is tough.  I like the taste of the shakes and I don't mind drinking them, but they don't seem to fill me up for very long. I am also having troubles getting enough protein and calories in when I'm drinking them. I don't know if I should adjust my snacks, currently around 250 calories, or supplement the shakes with something else, or give them more time to start working. I don't know how this is going to work once I get busy at work and eat what I can when I can. We talked about planning ahead in our meeting this week, I guess I'll have to try to put that to good use.

Good news is that I have made it in to work out/ walk every day this week. I've walked a mile each day and did weights on Monday & Wednesday. I don't know what I'm going to do when I don't have to come out to school for work and I can hit the gym. I guess I'll take Layla for lots of walks, as long as the weather holds.

Week 2 results

I am 2 weeks in to the weight loss challenge and things are going well. I have had some slip ups but overall I feel like I’m moving forward. At the weigh in Monday I weighed 339.8. I am down 3.4 pounds since the start. I have started this week to work out every day, whether it is just walking or weights and walking, I am up and at school by 7:15 to hit the gym. I have a friend who is a fitness/dance instructor working out with me and she has a training regimen worked out for us. I have started the shakes for meal replacement but I can see how boring those can get so I am looking for recipes to change them up some.

First weigh-in

Monday was our first weigh-in. I was late so I didn’t get to see how everybody else was doing. I lost a big, whopping, grand total of 1 pound exactly. I’m not surprised, I was actually expecting to be up after the debacle of Sunday but I was down.  I realize that the longest journey starts with a small step and slow and steady wins the race and all the other clichés about sticking with it, but it’s still a little disheartening. The good side of it was that I haven’t started the whole meal plan and I really haven’t started to exercise yet, but I have started to make more conscious decisions about what I put in my mouth and what it will do to me.  A little bit of progress after week one let’s hope there is more to come. Thank you again to all my friends who are supporting me. I can feel your spirits with me down this path and I appreciate every one of you.

Bumps in the Road

Yesterday, Sunday, was a bad day that ended in a good way.  I have decided I hate Sundays. There is too much temptation and time to spare. Yesterday was a perfect example.

Protein?

I want to thank everyone who sent me encouraging words both publicly and privately after my first post. They mean a lot to me and I hope I can live up to it. Now on to meat of the post.
