Yesterday, Sunday, was a bad day
that ended in a good way. I have decided I hate Sundays. There is too
much temptation and time to spare. Yesterday was a perfect example.
I made breakfast yesterday, because I had time, and it was
nothing special. Scrambled eggs with onions, green peepers, mushroom and ham
scrambled in, one small potato diced and fried, and breakfast sausage. Who knew
that 3 of them were 110 calories? I do after having 12 of the little bastards.
That got my day off to a beautiful start.
I pack my lunch to take to work, yes work. I work at odd times, nights,
weekends, all day long, 2-3 days in a row, 32 straight 10 hour days… My
schedule makes it difficult to stick to a structured diet as I almost never get
to eat at the same time every day. Lunch was a turkey sandwich with swiss
cheese and a couple of slices of plum tomato. I packed some baby carrots and
green pepper strips and I was off.
I keep a
pitcher of water, low fat string cheese and fiber one bars at work so I have
healthy snacks to go with whatever I bring for lunch. I have also started
eating greek yogurt as it has 14g of protein per serving and 140 calories so I
have a couple of those in my fridge also. I believe and have been told that it
helps keeping healthy snacks around to minimize your exposure and to help build
your self control. Well that’s fine in theory but after the concert I still
caved.
They had
giant fresh baked cookies!! I guess I did have some control as I usually eat 4
or 5 of them but this time I only had two.
It was enough to trigger me to more bad choices as I then made a run to
the border for dinner although I didn’t spend my usual 8-10 dollars there so I
did show a little restraint and I did manage to end the day on a high note,
although it had nothing to do with dieting or food.
I got to
spend some time with a very good friend who always makes me feel good
afterwards and we talked for a while. Friends are very important especially
when hard times come about and this friend has been there for me so it was a
great ending to a mediocre day.
I learned today that the littlest
things can screw you up, but slip ups do happen. It’s a little bump in the road
and as long as you make the moves to get things back on course your path will
get you to your destination. And it’s
great to have friends on the path to talk with and to help keep you sane.
